Scope

These terms apply to the dots app and this website. The provider is Philipp Volkmer, Germany. By downloading the app from the App Store and using it, you accept these terms.

The service

dots lets you save places on a map, assign them to trips, set radii for nearby alerts, collect travel stamps, and share trips or individual places. The map uses Apple MapKit. Continuous availability is not guaranteed.

Free allowance

Without a subscription you get 1 trip, 3 pins, and no Home Screen widgets. The allowance applies per device or as stated in the app.

dots Plus

dots Plus removes the limits on trips and pins and unlocks widgets (Nearby Places, day counter). It is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Apple, currently €2.99 per week and €120.99 per year. The price shown in the App Store for your country applies.

The subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in Apple Settings. Payment is charged to your Apple ID. Apple is the contracting party for the subscription; withdrawal, cancellation, and refunds follow Apple’s terms.

Sharing

Shared trips and places can be added and edited by others where the app allows. You remain responsible for what you publish. Do not infringe third-party rights, including in photos. Links of the form dots://import/… and dots://import-place/… and .rememberme files are meant only for use in dots.

Your duties

You must not misuse the app, including by sending unlawful content or circumventing technical protections. Location and notification permissions are controlled in iOS.

Liability

dots is a planning tool. Nearby alerts do not replace navigation or care in traffic. For slight negligence, Philipp Volkmer is liable only for breach of essential contractual duties and only for foreseeable damage, except where life, body, health, or mandatory statutory liability is concerned.

Final provisions

The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. If a clause is invalid, the remainder stays in force.
